The regular numbers are evenly distributed black and red throughout the wheel, which makes the black or red bet an almost 50-50 bet. Here the 0 comes in and American tables in land-based casinos almost always have the 00 except for the Monte Carlo. This gives the casino an extra edge, instead of a 2.7% chance of landing on a 0 (36/37) there is now a 5.3% chance (36/38).

Inside or Outside – Different Bets Explained

Outside bets are called “outside” because those bets are placed outside of the general frame and sequence of the numbers on the roulette table. All outside bets lose when the ball lands on the 0, except in the U.K. where the player loses half of the bet size when a zero is landed. This progression is applied to even bets, after every loss the player progresses one step forward, for every win two steps are taken back in the progression. The most important difference is that one win does not recoup all previous losses, but this also makes it less risky than the martingale.

The Reverse Martingale – For the reverse martingale you:

  1. Select your target winning, the amount you want to leave the casino with
  2. For each spin you will place the “baseline bet”, a small portion of your bankroll
  3. After every win, you will place all your wins again, including your original bet. If you lose again you will go back to your “baseline bet”.
  4. Simply repeat this process until either your bankroll is gone or you reach your target wins.
